The Institute encourages fellows to engage in individual or collaborative projects, especially those using the new possibilities for research, knowledge production, dissemination, and pedagogy in the digital humanities. At this time, the Institute does not have any collaborative research projects of its own. But we are pleased to feature the projects of current and former fellows in the links below.

Solmsen Fellow, 2010-2011

The Monastic Manuscript Project documents the manuscript dissemination of late antique and early medieval Latin texts that are relevant for the study of early medieval monasticism. It is based on text descriptions that include lists of manuscripts, which are linked with manuscript descriptions. The database should become a tool for analyzing texts in their manuscript contexts. It will especially focus on sources that are vastly understudied despite their wide manuscript dissemination and on the transmission of fragments, extracts and florilegia. The project should become a platform for future manuscript based research on early medieval monasticism. Whenever possible it provides links to other online repertoria and especially to digitized manuscripts.
