Senior fellow Steven Nadler served on a committee co-sponsored by the University of Amsterdam to reinvestigate Baruch Spinoza’s 1656 excommunication from the Jewish community. Alongside other Spinoza scholars, Nadler provided reasons against rescinding the excommunication, a decision that was supported by the Amsterdam congregation.
