Simon Newman Honored for Winning 25th Annual Frederick Douglass Book Prize

Simon Newman (Honorary Fellow, 2020-2023) was one of two recipients of the award for his book Freedom Seekers: Escaping from Slavery in Restoration London (University of London Press) One of the most coveted awards for the study of slavery and abolition, this $25,000 prize is sponsored jointly by the Gilder Lehrman Institute and the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at the MacMillan Center at Yale University.
