Biography
Kathleen (Kate) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Philosophy at UW–Madison. She received her B.A in philosophy and creative writing from the University of Iowa. Kate specializes in metaphysics and philosophical logic, particularly as regards modality (the study of possibility) and mereology (the study of parthood). Her dissertation investigates so-called maximalist ontologies—views that suggest far more objects exist than our ordinary judgements countenance. When she’s not working on her dissertation, you can usually find her reading, enjoying the outdoors, or playing with her cat Tutt.
