Josephine (Jojo) is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Philosophy at UW–Madison. She received her B.A. in philosophy and mathematics from Vassar College. Jojo specializes in metaphysics, feminist philosophy, and social philosophy, and is especially interested in the intersection of these three areas. Her dissertation, “Core Questions about Social Kinds,” explores the metaphysics and semantics of social kinds—properties like being a woman, being a refugee, being a war, and being money. When she is not thinking about social construction, you can find her reluctantly training for a half marathon, sending podcast-length voice memos, and exploring Madison’s thrift stores.
