It is with sadness that the IRH announces the passing of Marie A. Kelleher (Solmsen Fellow, 2007-2008). Marie was Professor of History at California State University, Long Beach. Her most recent book, The Hungry City: A Year in the Life of Medieval Barcelona is forthcoming with Cornell University Press. She taught courses in medieval history at CSULB beginning in 2003. Her areas of interest included medieval Spain and the Mediterranean world, gender, and medieval law. She was the recipient of numerous national grants and fellowships, and her book The Measure of Woman: Law and Female Identity in the Crown of Aragon was awarded the American Historical Association’s 2012 “Premio del Rey” for best book in early Iberian history.
